Puttering Master

Although I have managed to start puttering around my sewing dungeon and refamiliarize myself with all the fabric I forgot I had (it's like Christmas in September!) I don't have any photos yet of any actually completed projects. But I'm oh so very close to finishing my took forever and a day black and yellow quilt that I actually started LAST FEBRUARY.

(see, there's actual quilt lines!)

Holy Toledo you'd think I went and got married and went on a honeymoon and didn't go in the basement for the last 4 months because of our kickass summer weather....or something like that.

In my puttering madness (I'm a professional putterer, just ask Gord)I also have organized and line up about 17 other projects that I can't wait to get started on. Cough cough...I think I feel a cold coming on place of employment and will be out for a few days.

And in other news; our cats are lean mean killing machines. They have perfected their hunting skills over summer and in the last few weeks we have had 4 kills (that we know of). So long sparrow. Adios small unidentifiable birdy.

The latest was when I looked outside today and saw the cats tossing something into the air but instinctively knew they weren't practicing their circus act...Catch you on the flip side Mr. Robin:(

Whoohoo!

I love when I buy new fabric and it comes in the mail after a less then steller week!

Let sewing season commence!!

Sunday, September 11, 2011

From the looks of these photos, it appears fabric has been traded for food. Although it's not all I've been up to these past two weekends, I don't think that pictures or conversations around cleaning the garage, doing laundry, and watering plants is much to post about, satisfying as I just might find it all some days.
So instead, I give you a feast for the eyes! We bought a flat of white BC peaches, maybe 30 or so of them, and went to town mowin' down. I froze some too so I could make jam in my new canning pot with handy equipment (conveniently bought after all the jars below were made...sigh) And, we pulled the rest of our wee garden including some mini lettuce. It's almost worth growing because it's just so cute. But it tastes good too. Bonus.

I bought a bushel (I don't know if that's right but it was a mother bag, sac, load...pick your word) of cucumbers from the farmers market and decided to make some sweet and spicy pickles.

The big ones didn't fit in my pot (hence the new kit as mentioned above) so I popped them in the fridge right away and figured they'd be a good test anyway to make sure I don't give away terrible pickles later. Today I tried a few and they were delicious! The flavor wasn't too strong, but it had only been a week and I hope they follow my lead and get better with age:)

I also made a few more jars of beets just for good measure.

Here's a side note: Gord bought a new shirt and I giggle so much when I see him in it. He was humble, not to mention confident, enough in his purchase to let me post this picture. "Hello Mr. Cruise Director, what activities are happening on deck today?!" Ahahaha!

This is what the Cruise Director looked like this weekend when using their christmas present telescope for the first time on the back deck to check out the moon (it was pretty cool, even though I didn't have a shirt myself)

I also dried and froze some basil, mint and dill so we could have fresh(ish) herbs in the winter

To top off the food feature...carrot vodka pasta with carrots from the garden (that's for you Chris!)

The weather has been so nice and hot and in the last few hours has turned cool (but not as cool as being a Cruise Director). Hope you've had as a great a summer as I have!
