New Garden...and stuff
I decided that I wanted to try to be more like some of the people I admire. My friend Christine (http://darkcloudbluesky.blogspot.com/) lives in Australia and has a wonderful veggie garden and just did a huge art installation about gardens and even though ours will never compare, Gord and I decided that this year we will finally attempt this great feat of veggie gardening. So, although it doesn't look like much these are big steps for us non-gardeners. We planned it, bought it, built it and then Gord 'installed' it. Now we are just waiting for our soil delivery and when we return from Peru let the growing begin!

Anthony also performed his play at his final drama class of the season. Journey to the Centre of the Drain was a smashing hit and I particularly enjoyed the dance party at the end. Anthony was great, knew all his lines and loves being on stage. The kids all wrote the play together and developed their characters, costumes etc. So much fun!

Gord and Anthony also built a wheelbarrow. Gord is a chair sanding, deck staining, winter cleaning machine. And a wheelbarrow just makes him an official backyarder fixer-uper.
And who doesn't need a good cuppa tea and book after building your first wheelbarrow?

I thought all the pictures of cleaning would be a little bit weird, and under appreciated, so instead I took these pictures of this weeks happenings...

Spring? Is that you?
Call it what you want; spring cleaning, Nana-fying, Family's-coming-holy-s*%$-cleaning...whatever it's called we started today. It all began with Gord teaching Anthony how to use a hammer to build a new bookshelf. It snowballed into sunroom, basement and guestroom cleaning up and cleaning out. It made me happy.

Oh, and it looked like this today. You have to consider that in the last 24 hours we had 30 cm of snow and my car was resembling more of a giant marshmallow than a car, so this is good. And there's blue sky. This also made me happy.

The snow was almost gone, almost. Then in the middle of last night it started again and we are currently in the middle of a January worthy snow storm. It's too depressing to post more snow, at this point we know where we stand; winter 10 us 0. So to sooth my summer loving heart, I baked and played in the dirt. What else can you do really?
